Welcome to the site of the BCAS 10-7 Association Society

The Association Society is comprised of retired Employees of the British Columbia Ambulance service, or those members receiving long term disability benefits and surviving spouses of members and surviving spouses of BCAS employees who were eligible to collect a pension but were deceased before reaching retirement.

The BCAS 10-7 Association Society supports or sponsors many aspects of the work of the BC Ambulance Service and the advancement of the Paramedic profession in general.

Here are only a few examples:

  • The annual funding of two educational bursaries. The bursaries are in the name of the late Dr. Peter M Ransford and Carson (J.C.) Smith. The bursaries are open to the children, grandchildren or any other direct relative of any member of the Association.
  • Promotes the history of the BCAS through the BCAS archives located in Victoria. Items from the archives are available on loan to BCAS members for displays or other educational opportunities.
  • Offers up to date information on retirement benefits or advice on retirement planning
  • Provides a fellowship with other retirees through monthly luncheons in various locations in the province. Also keeps in contact with members and their families who are in failing health and offers support during the death of a member.
  • Provides support to other organizations such as the Fallen Paramedics of BC Memorial Society Fund and assists retirees who may be seeking part-time employment in a non-EMS field.

We meet informally for a luncheon usually once a month, at various locations around the province. Check the Coming Events page, to find a location near you.

Please take some time to look around our web site, and learn more about us. We would welcome any input you may have, and are eager to sign up new members.

If you have any photos from the “early days” of the BC ambulance service. We would be happy to scan them and return them to you. We are working hard to develop a photo archives section, that will demonstrate the history of our service, outlining the contributions that have been made by the “pioneers” of our service – we would certainly welcome any narratives that you might be able to provide us.

Don’t hesitate to contact any of the members who have email addresses (listed on the Contacts page) for further information.
